Each summer as a little girl in the Czech Republic, Dana Abarca used to travel with her family around the beautiful countryside. Her mother – a pharmacy doctor - taught her the names of the flowers, herbs and mushrooms and how to use them. She fell in love with nature and science. After finishing her Master of Science degree in Biochemistry and Food Science at the University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague and working in the food industry (R&D, Quality Assurance), Dana decided to travel and explore the flavors of different countries. She landed in the San Francisco Bay Area and worked for 10 years in the spice industry. In 2016, Dana started California Spice Basket, Inc..
